Whomever Hari firmly embraces as his own—that person alone becomes virtuous, pure, versed in the Veda, and filled with learning and good qualities. (1) Hearing of the Pāṇḍavas’ birth and conduct, the true path itself grew afraid; yet they became worshiped in the three worlds, and people crossed over by repeatedly hearing their sacred fame. (2) King Nṛga omitted nothing while practicing his own Veda-taught duty; though without fault, he sank into a well as a lizard, and Hari grasped his hand and rescued him. (3) The Brahmā-missile capable of burning the cosmos did not burn the king in the womb; the ageless, deathless one whom even the thunderbolt could not slay was then killed by foam. (4) In the brahmin Ajāmila and in Indra, what was there that had not gone wrong? Hari helped them greatly and removed the anguish from their hearts. (5) What sin in the world did the courtesan and Kandarpa not commit? Yet Hari deemed their conduct pure and lodged them in the dwelling of his own heart. (6) By what conduct the Lord is pleased—this cannot be known. Tulsidas stands watching the road for Raghunātha’s grace. (7)
