Rama, your Name alone serves my good. Raising my arm, I proclaim it aloud to all companions in worldly interest and the highest good. (1) My mother and father abandoned me after giving me birth; without merit, fate too created me unfortunate and misshapen. Yet some call even one like me Rama’s own—through what connection could that be? (2) Without the Name I wandered greedily for the sake of my belly; even sorrow grew sorrowful on seeing me. By the Name’s grace I now obtain mangoes from acacia and belleric trees. (3) Saints accomplish this world and the next by hearing, reflecting, and undertaking many disciplines. Tulsi’s support is the Name: the knot is one, however many its windings. (4)
