प्रिय रामनामतें जाहि न रामो। ताको भलो कठिन कलिकालहुँ आदि-मध्य-परिनामो॥ १॥ सकुचत समुझि नाम-महिमा मद-लोभ-मोह-कोह-कामो। राम-नाम-जप-निरत सुजन पर करत छाँह घोर धामो॥ २॥ नाम-प्रभाउ सही जो कहे कोउ सिला सरोरुह जामो। जो सुनि सुमिरि भाग-भाजन भइ सुकृतसील भील-भामो॥ ३॥ बालमीकि-अजामिलके कछु हुतो न साधन सामो। उलटे पलटे नाम-महातम गुंजनि जितो ललामो॥ ४॥ रामतें अधिक नाम-करतब, जेहि किये नगर-गत गामो। भये बजाइ दाहिने जो जपि तुलसिदाससे बामो॥ ५॥
For one to whom even Rama is not dearer than Rama’s Name, the beginning, middle, and end will be good even in harsh Kali. (1) Pride, greed, delusion, anger, and lust shrink away on understanding the Name’s greatness. Even fierce sunshine gives shade to the good who remain absorbed in repeating Rama’s Name. (2) If anyone says that through the Name’s power a lotus was born in stone, accept it as true. By hearing and remembering it, the Bhil woman became fortunate, virtuous, and meritorious. (3) Vālmīki and Ajāmila possessed none of the means of spiritual discipline; yet through the greatness of the reversed and altered Name, they won a jewel with guñjā seeds. (4) The deeds of the Name surpass Rama’s: it made village people into accomplished townsmen. By repeating it, those as wayward as Tulsidas became openly fortunate. (5)
