जो मन भज्यो चहै हरि-सुरतरु। तौ तज बिषय-बिकार, सार भज, अजहूँ जो मैं कहौं सोइ करु॥ १॥ सम, संतोष, बिचार बिमल अति, सतसंगति, ये चारि दृढ़ करि धरु। काम-क्रोध अरु लोभ-मोह-मद, राग-द्वेष निसेष करि परिहरु॥ २॥ श्रवन कथा, मुख नाम, हृदय हरि, सिर प्रनाम, सेवा कर अनुसरु। नयननि निरखि कृपा-समुद्र हरि अग-जग-रूप भूप सीताबरु॥ ३॥ इहै भगति, बैराग्य-ग्यान यह, हरि-तोषन यह सुभ ब्रत आचरु। तुलसिदास सिव-मत मारग यहि चलत सदा सपनेहुँ नाहिंन डरु॥ ४॥

Mind, if you wish to worship Hari, the wish-fulfilling tree, abandon sensual corruption, worship the essence, and even now do what I say. (1) Hold these four firmly: equality, contentment, exceedingly pure discernment, and holy company. Entirely abandon lust, anger, greed, delusion, pride, attachment, and aversion. (2) Hear the tale, speak the Name, hold Hari in the heart, bow the head, and follow through service; with your eyes behold Hari, ocean of grace, King and Lord of Sita, form of moving and unmoving creation. (3) This is devotion, detachment, and knowledge; this pleases Hari—practice this auspicious vow. Tulsidas, this is Shiva’s path; walking it, there is never fear even in a dream. (4)
