Lord, hearing the tale of your virtues brings a kind of delight to my heart; yet, Rama, I know neither the devotion nor the feeling by which you are pleased. (1) Neither deed, disposition, nor time is favorable; I have neither master nor a place. I have no good wealth, good body, good mind, or good span of life. (2) Whomever I ask for water tells me instead to give him nectar. To whom can I speak? My heart finds courage with no one. (3) Father, I am your sacrifice: you yourself must devise that remedy. At your mere glance, even one who has lost finds a fortunate throw. (4) Only when you make it visible does the unseen counsel become visible; only when you explain does the incomprehensible teaching become understood. (5) Reliance on the Name is the water, and in it I am like the poor king of fish. If I speak contrived words before the Lord, may my tongue burn. (6) Everything has gone wrong in every way; there is just one favorable turn—Tulsi has made it known to his excellent master. (7)
