Look upon me just once—I am your sacrifice—and make me your own. O son of King Dasharatha, you replant those who have been uprooted. (1) There is no other mighty master who protects those seeking refuge. At the mere taking of your name, wasteland becomes a fertile field. (2) Your words and deeds are fixed deep in my mind; I have seen, heard of, and understood all those regarded as great in the world. (3) Who brought relief and honor to the stone? Who playfully conquered a sage such as Bhrigu’s lord? (4) Who upheld worldly and Vedic duty for mother, father, brother, and loved ones? Who stands immovable by his word, and makes the one who bows wholly blessed? (5) Who, compelled by love, gathered in the lowly and the wicked? Tell me, who would perform the funeral rite for the vulture and for Shabari? (6) Who is the support of the unsupported, the compassionate one for the poor? Who is friend to monkey, boatman, night-roamer, and bear? (7) All the paupers, virtue-less, and lowly whom you favored, Maharaj, now sit honored in the company of the good. (8) This true litany of your renown has been spoken without exaggeration. Ocean of gracious character, why has there been delay when Tulsi’s turn has come? (9)
