Raga Bilaval Where shall I go, whom shall I tell, and who will hear the poor one? In the three worlds, you alone are the refuge of all who are utterly helpless. (1) On earth there are many ‘lords of the world’ from house to house; for the unsupported, the multitude of your virtues is the support. (2) For the elephant-king’s need, who left the king of birds and rushed forth? Apart from one such as you, what mother has borne one who nurtures a storehouse of faults like me? (3) Cruel, cowardly, a bad son, worth half a cowrie—one such as me you made precious, O performer of the vulture’s funeral rite. (4) I avow, Tulsi’s plight will be mended only when you mend it. The Lord’s delay, as a mother, will give birth to fault and grief. (5)
