राख्यो राम सुस्वामी सों नीच नेह न नातो। एते अनादर हूँ तोहि ते न हातो॥ १॥ जोरे नये नाते नेह फोकट फीके। देहके दाहक, गाहक जीके॥ २॥ अपने अपनेको सब चाहत नीको। मूल दुहूँको दयालु दूलह सीको॥ ३॥ जीवको जीवन प्रानको प्यारो। सुखहूको सुख रामसों बिसारो॥ ४॥ कियो करैगो तोसे खलको भलो। ऐसे सुसाहब सों तू कुचाल क्यों चलो॥ ५॥ तुलसी तेरी भलाई अजहूँ बूझै। राढ़ड राउत होत फिरिकै जूझै॥ ६॥

Lowly one, you formed neither love nor kinship with Rama, that excellent master; yet despite so much disrespect, you were not abandoned by him. (1) You joined new ties and loves, all futile and insipid—burners of the body, takers of life. (2) Everyone wishes well for oneself and one’s own, but the root of both kinds of welfare is the merciful Bridegroom of Sita. (3) You forgot Rama, the life of living beings, the beloved of the vital breath, the very joy of joy. (4) He has done, and will do, good even for a wretch like you. Why practice deceit toward such an excellent master? (5) Tulsi, even now discern what is good for you: by fighting time and again, even a coward becomes a warrior. (6)
