One who does not love Rama and Vaidehi should be abandoned like ten million enemies, though exceedingly dear. (1) Prahlada abandoned his father, Vibhishana his brother, Bharata his mother, Bali his guru, and the women of Vraja their husbands; they became bringers of joy and auspiciousness. (2) Every relationship and affection is accepted as friendly and worthy of service only insofar as it belongs to Rama. What use is collyrium that destroys the eye? How much more can I say, and for how long? (3) Tulsi, the one through whom love for Rama’s feet arises is in every way the highest benefactor, worthy of worship, and dearer than life. This is my conviction. (4)
