If there were love for Rama’s feet, why would one endure the threefold pains night and day, and calamity alone? (1) If the mind obtained the nectar of contentment even once in a dream, why would it run like a deer after the false water of sense objects? (2) If, reflecting upon Shripati’s greatness within, one worshiped him with growing feeling, why would one wander door to door like a dog, baring one’s belly? (3) Those greedy ones who become slaves of hope are servants of everyone; those who trust the Lord and conquer hope are Hari’s servants. (4) I have not even one practice of worship, and therefore make this petition: Lord, for the sake of the Name, grant grace to servant Tulsi. (5)
