Raghubara, this is your greatness: disregarding the eminent, you honor the poor and pour abundant grace upon them. (1) The gods exhausted themselves in every discipline, yet you did not appear to them even in a dream; but boatman, crooked bear, monkey, and night-roamer—you made them all your brothers. (3) At a dog’s word you set an ascetic upon an elephant and sent him outside the city; yet the dull-witted washerman who slandered a woman you regarded as your subject and kept within your city under your justice. (4) In this court, honoring the poor has always been the established way. Compassionate to the poor, has no one yet reminded you of poor Tulsi? (5)
