जो पै चेराई रामकी करतो न लजातो। तौ तू दाम कुदाम ज्यों कर-कर न बिकातो॥ १॥ जपत जीह रघुनाथको नाम नहिं अलसातो। बाजीगरके सूम ज्यों खल खेह न खातो॥ २॥ जौ तू मन! मेरे कहे राम-नाम कमातो। सीतापति सनमुख सुखी सब ठाँव समातो॥ ३॥ राम सोहाते तोहिं जौ तू सबहिं सोहातो। काल करम कुल कारनी कोऊ न कोहातो॥ ४॥ राम-नाम अनुरागही जिय जो रतिआतो। स्वारथ-परमारथ-पथी तोहि सब पतिआतो॥ ५॥ सेइ साधु सुनि समुझि कै पर-पीर पिरातो। जनम कोटिको काँदलो हृद-ह्रदय थिरातो॥ ६॥ भव-मग अगम अनंत है, बिनु श्रमहि सिरातो। महिमा उलटे नामकी मुनि कियो किरातो॥ ७॥ अमर-अगम तनु पाइ सो जड़ जाय न जातो। होतो मंगल-मूल तू, अनुकूल बिधातो॥ ८॥ जो मन, प्रीति-प्रतीतिसों राम-नामहिं रातो। तुलसी रामप्रसादसों तिहुँताप न तातो॥ ९॥
Had you not been ashamed to serve Rama, then, though true coin, you would not have been sold from hand to hand like false money. (1) Had your tongue not been lazy in repeating Raghunatha’s name, villain, you would not have eaten dust like a conjurer’s wooden puppet. (2) Mind, had you followed my advice and earned the wealth of Rama’s name, you would have been happy before Sitapati and honored everywhere. (3) Had Rama pleased you, you would have pleased everyone; time, karma, lineage, and every other directing power would not have been angry with you. (4) Had you lovingly fixed the heart’s attachment upon Rama’s name, travelers on the paths of both worldly and highest good would all have trusted you. (5) Had you served saints and, hearing and understanding another’s pain, suffered with them, the mud of millions of births would have settled to the bottom of the lake of your heart. (6) The road of becoming is inaccessible and endless, yet you would have finished it without exertion. Such is the glory even of the reversed Name that it turned a hunter into a sage. (7) Fool, having gained this body inaccessible even to immortals, you would not have let it pass away in vain; you would have become a root of auspiciousness and the Creator would have favored you. (8) Mind, had you been absorbed in Rama’s name with love and trust, Tulsi, by Rama’s grace, you would not have burned in the three afflictions. (9)
