Ramabhadra, I both do and do not fear for myself, for every creature in this world is a vessel of suffering. (1) Is my bond with the greatly powerful Lord somehow one-sided? You have very many like me, but I have you alone. (2) All-knowing Master, this is the great shame and loss within my heart: cruel and a bad servant, I speak as though I were a true servant. (3) Whether good or base, all men and women call me Rama’s. When a servant or dog goes bad, abuse falls upon the master’s head. (4) I see no means by which the mind’s perplexity may end. Friend of the poor, do whatever you understand to be fitting and possible. (5) Look upon the garland of your renowned deeds: surely I am one of those whom they describe. Even if the Lord abandons Tulsi, he remains a refugee lying before him. (6)
