मैं केहि कहौं बिपति अति भारी। श्रीरघुबीर धीर हितकारी॥ १॥ मम हृदय भवन प्रभु तोरा। तहँ बसे आइ बहु चोरा॥ २॥ अति कठिन करहिं बरजोरा। मानहिं नहिं बिनय निहोरा॥ ३॥ तम, मोह, लोभ, अहँकारा। मद, क्रोध, बोध-रिपु मारा॥ ४॥ अति करहिं उपद्रव नाथा। मरदहिं मोहि जानि अनाथा॥ ५॥ मैं एक, अमित बटपारा। कोउ सुने न मोर पुकारा॥ ६॥ भागेहु नहिं नाथ! उबारा। रघुनायक, करहु सँभारा॥ ७॥ कह तुलसिदास सुनु रामा। लूटहिं तसकर तव धामा॥ ८॥ चिंता यह मोहिं अपारा। अपजस नहिं होइ तुम्हारा॥ ९॥
To whom can I tell this immense adversity? Glorious Raghubira alone is steadfast and benevolent. (1) Lord, my heart is your dwelling, yet many thieves have come and settled there. (2) They are exceedingly harsh and use force; they heed neither petition nor appeal. (3) Darkness, delusion, greed, self-importance, pride, anger—Mara, the enemy of understanding. (4) Master, they cause terrible havoc; taking me for an orphan, they crush me. (5) I am one and the highwaymen are countless; no one hears my cry. (6) Master, do not flee—rescue me. Lord of Raghu, take care of me. (7) Tulsidas says: listen, Rama—the thieves are plundering your own abode. (8) This is my boundless concern: may the disgrace not become yours. (9)
