If one’s own mind abandoned its disorders, where would remain the pain of worldly existence born of duality, immeasurable doubt and grief? (1) Enemy, friend, and neutral—the mind itself has forcibly made these three, things to reject, embrace, or disregard, like snake, gold, and grass. (2) Just as food, clothing, animals, and objects of every kind all remain within the mind, so heaven, hell, and the many moving and unmoving worlds dwell within it. (3) A puppet lies hidden in wood and a garment in thread before either is fashioned; in the same way, many bodies lie latent in the mind and manifest when occasion comes. (4) When the mind is washed with the water of devotion to the Lord of Raghu, this is seen without effort. Tulsidas says: as one understands, the world is understood as the play of consciousness. (5)
