हे हरि! कस न हरहु भ्रम भारी। जद्यपि मृषा सत्य भासे जबलगि नहिं कृपा तुम्हारी॥ १॥ अर्थ अबिद्यमान जानिय संसृति नहिं जाइ गोसाई। बिन बाँधे निज हठ सठ परबस, परयो कीरकी नाई॥ २॥ सपने ब्याधि बिबिध बाधा जनु मृत्यु उपस्थित आई। बैद अनेक उपाय करै जागे बिनु पीर न जाई॥ ३॥ श्रुति-गुरु-साधु-समृति-संमत यह दृश्य असत दुखकारी। तेहि बिनु तजे, भजे बिनु रघुपति, बिपति सके को टारी॥ ४॥ बहु उपाय संसार-तरन कहुँ, बिमल गिरा श्रुति गावै। तुलसिदास मैं-मोर गये बिनु जिउ सुख कबहुँ न पावै॥ ५॥
Hari, why do you not remove this heavy delusion? Though false, it appears true as long as your grace is absent. (1) Even when one knows its objects do not truly exist, worldly existence does not depart, Master. Unbound by another, the fool falls subject to his own obstinacy, like the parrot in its trap. (2) In a dream, varied diseases and afflictions arise as though death itself had arrived; physicians try many remedies, yet the pain does not leave until one wakes. (3) Revelation, guru, saint, and sacred tradition agree that this visible world is unreal and productive of pain. Without abandoning it and worshiping the Lord of Raghu, who can avert adversity? (4) For crossing worldly existence, revelation’s stainless voice sings many means. Yet Tulsidas says the soul can never find joy until ‘I’ and ‘mine’ are gone. (5)
