Why do you not show compassion, Hari—Murari, destroyer of pain, remover of the threefold heat, error, grief, doubt, and fear? (1) Here is one stained by the age of Kali, dull-witted and impure in mind. If the Lord does not care for him, how can this servant live? (2) Lord, you are capable in every way, while I am poor in every way. Knowing this in your heart, do you not melt because I lack good karma? (3) Though I wander through many wombs, Lord of Raghu, I have no other master. Let me endure pain and joy while remaining forever surrendered to you. (4) In my heart I understand that no god is compassionate like you. Yet Tulsidas has no spiritual means by which to please Hari. (5)
