हरि! तुम बहुत अनुग्रह कीन्हों। साधन-धाम बिबुध दुरलभ तनु, मोहि कृपा करि दीन्हों॥ १॥ कोटिहुँ मुख कहि जात न प्रभुके, एक एक उपकार। तदपि नाथ कछु और माँगिहौं, दीजै परम उदार॥ २॥ बिषय-बारि मन-मीन भिन्न नहिं होत कबहुँ पल एक। ताते सहौं विपति अति दारुन, जनमत जोनि अनेक॥ ३॥ कृपा-डोरि बनसी पद अंकुस, परम प्रेम-मृदु-चारो। एहि बिधि बेधि हरहु मेरो दुख, कौतुक राम तिहारो॥ ४॥ हैं श्रुति-बिदित उपाय सकल सुर, केहि केहि दीन निहोरै। तुलसिदास येहि जीव मोह-रजु, जेहि बाँध्यो सोइ छोरै॥ ५॥
Hari, you have shown me great grace: mercifully you gave me this body, abode of spiritual means and difficult even for the gods to obtain. (1) Even with millions of mouths, each single favor of the Lord could not be told; nevertheless, Master, I ask for something more—supremely generous one, grant it. (2) The fish of my mind is never separate for even a moment from the water of sense-objects. Therefore I endure dreadful adversity, taking birth in many wombs. (3) Make grace the line, the mark of your foot the hook, and supreme love the tender bait. Pierce it in this way and remove my pain, Rama; for you it is mere sport. (4) All the means are known from revelation and the gods are many—to how many should this poor one appeal? Tulsidas says: the one who bound this soul with the cord of delusion must himself release it. (5)
