जाउँ कहाँ तजि चरन तुम्हारे। काको नाम पतित-पावन जग, केहि अति दीन पियारे॥ १॥ कौने देव बराइ बिरद-हित, हठि हठि अधम उधारे। खग, मृग, व्याध, पषान, बिटप जड़, जवन कवन सुर तारे॥ २॥ देव, दनुज, मुनि, नाग, मनुज सब, माया-बिबस बिचारे। तिनके हाथ दासतुलसी प्रभु, कहा अपनपौ हारे॥ ३॥

Where can I go, leaving your feet? Whose name in this world is ‘Purifier of the fallen’? To whom are the utterly lowly so dear? (1) What god, to uphold his chosen title, has insistently selected and delivered the base? What deity has saved bird, beast, hunter, stone, inert tree, and Yavana? (2) Gods, demons, sages, serpents, and humans—all the poor creatures are subject to maya. Lord, what would your servant Tulsi gain by surrendering himself into their hands? (3)
