देव— और काहि माँगिये, को माँगिबो निवारे। अभिमतदातार कौन, दुख-दरिद्र दारै॥ १॥ धरमधाम राम काम-कोटि-रूप रूरो। साहब सब बिधि सुजान, दान-खड़ग-सूरो॥ २॥ सुसमय दिन द्वै निसान सबके द्वार बाजै। कुसमय दसरथके! दानि तैं गरीब निवाजै॥ ३॥ सेवा बिनु गुनबिहीन दीनता सुनाये। जे जे तैं निहाल किये फूले फिरत पाये॥ ४॥ तुलसिदास जाचक-रुचि जानि दान दीजै। रामचंद्र चंद्र तू, चकोर मोहिं कीजै॥ ५॥
Lord—whom else should I ask? Who can end my need to beg? Who else gives the heart’s desire and tears apart pain and poverty? (1) Rama, abode of dharma, lovelier than a crore Loves; Master, wise in every way, valiant in wielding the sword of giving. (2) In good times the drums sound for two days at everyone’s door; but in bad times, son of Dasharatha, you are the donor who honors the poor. (3) Those without service or virtue who told you of their lowliness—you blessed every one of them; I found them wandering swollen with joy. (4) Knowing the desire of the supplicant Tulsidas, give this gift: Ramachandra, you are the moon—make me the moon-bird. (5)
