Raga Todi—Lord, there is no other compassionate donor to the lowly. Whoever I tell of my poverty, I find that one poor as well. (1) Gods, humans, sages, demons and serpents are masters in abundance—but only while your glance has not turned even slightly away. (2) It is known in the three worlds through all three times, and the four Vedas declare it: beginning, end and middle, Rama, the mastery is yours. (3) Whoever begs from you is no longer called a beggar. Hearing the fair fame of your nature and character, this supplicant servant has come. (4) You have made stones, beasts, trees and birds your own. Great son of Dasharatha, you have turned paupers into kings. (5) You honor the poor, and I am your poor man. Compassionate Lord, say just once: ‘Tulsidas is mine.’ (6)
