Rama is Janaki’s life, the world’s life and the world’s benefactor; Lord of the world, Raghunatha, lotus-eyed. His face is the autumn moon, his nature gives joy, he is Lakshmi’s dwelling; his body is beautiful by nature, with the splendor of countless Loves. (1) Good father, mother, guru, benefactor and friend of the world, favorable to all, friend of the lowly and hostile to none; remover of affliction, giver of refuge, incomparable donor, guardian of those who bow, compassionate—his name purifies the fallen. (2) The whole universe bows to you, every god serves you, and Agama and Veda proclaim only your hosts of virtues. Knowing this, Tulsi became your servant: will you count him apart, or among the poor bondsmen you number as yours? (3)
