Victory to the manifest embodiment of the supreme Brahman—being, consciousness, all-pervading bliss—who took incarnation in play. While Brahma and the other gods and Siddhas were distressed and constrained, the abode of stainless virtues assumed a human body. (1) Victory to the Lord of Kosala, Kausalya’s blessedness, skillful giver of liberation’s lovely fruit; protector of the earth-cow of Veda-taught action and dharma, servant of Brahmins and giver of joy to the good. (2) Victory to the guardian of the sage’s sacrifice, destroyer of the grove of enemies, who removed the sin of the sage’s wife held under a curse; who broke Shiva’s bow, crushed the pride of assembled kings, and made even Bhrigu’s lord bow his mighty head. (3) Victory to the steadfast Raghubira, bearer of the foremost burden of righteousness, who obeyed the words of teacher, mother, father and brother; wandering Chitrakut, Vindhya and Dandaka, he blessed those sacred forests. (4) Victory to him who gave Indra’s crow-son the fruit of his deed, dug a pit and buried Viradha; seeing through the night-roaming woman’s divine maidenly disguise, he disgraced the very obstruction of the world. (5) Victory to the destroyer of Khara, Trishira, Dushana, fourteen thousand warriors and Maricha; ocean of compassion, moved by the devotion of the vulture and Shabari, of unconditioned conduct, remover of the three afflictions. (6) Victory to him who killed blind-proud Kabandha and mighty Bali and made Sugriva king; who assembled and arrayed the host of monkey and bear warriors, and honored Ravana’s younger brother bowing at his feet. (7) Victory to him who built a bridge upon the ocean for sport, eagerly seized Lanka, unreachable even to the mind of Death, and in battle destroyed the ten-headed one with clan, brother and army, freeing worlds and their guardians from fear. (8) Victory to him who, with Lakshmana, Sita and his ministers, mounted Pushpaka and departed for his capital. Tulsidas says all Ayodhya rejoiced when Rama became king and Vaidehi queen. (9)
