कबहुँ समय सुधि द्यायबी, मेरी मातु जानकी। जन कहाइ नाम लेत हौं, किये पन चातक ज्यों, प्यास प्रेम-पानकी॥ १॥ सरल कहाई प्रकृति आपु जानिए करुना-निधानकी। निजगुन, अरिकृत अनहितौ, दास-दोष सुरति चित रहत न दिये दानकी॥ २॥ बानि बिसारनसील हे मानद अमानकी। तुलसीदास न बिसारिये, मन करम बचन जाके, सपनेहुँ गति न आनकी॥ ३॥

Mother Janaki, someday bring me to mind. Calling myself your servant, I take your name; like the chataka bird, I have vowed to thirst for the drink of love. (1) You are called guileless; you know for yourself the nature of the treasury of compassion. His own virtues, the harm an enemy has done, a servant’s fault, and a gift once given—none of these remain in his recollecting heart. (2) You are, by nature, one who forgets words of disrespect, O giver of honor to the dishonored. Do not forget Tulsidas, whose mind, action and speech have no other refuge even in a dream. (3)
