When hardship presses, harsh words are spoken. A good master hears and understands, and by his own goodness does good even to one who has done no good. (1) If one finds a mighty, beneficent hero who feels another's pain, all look toward him, as rivers go to the ocean without being called. (2) Every man and woman desires what is good for his or her own self. Through an auspicious or inauspicious tie, each worships whichever one pleases. (3) One whom you called with the pledge of your arm and established by your own might should be maintained like a servant even without service. (4) The fault and fickleness are mine; you are great in greatness. Honored, I grow brazen—utterly low in my lowness. (5) Veda and Agama sing your title, Liberator of the Bound. Whatever is good for Tulsidas rests only in your goodness. (6)
