Victory to the wind-born one of renowned valor, immense arms, boundless strength and mighty tail; his body is shaped like golden Mount Meru, its shining hairs a garland of lightning and flame. (1) Victory to the one whose excellent face is the young sun, whose eyes are tawny, who wears a harsh, brown mass of matted hair; with formidable brows, diamond teeth and nails, he is a lion against the herds of enemy elephants drunk with pride. (2) Victory to the humbler of Bhima, Arjuna and the serpent-devouring Garuda, the protecting banner upon Dhananjaya's chariot; he became the cause of the destruction of Duryodhana's army, guarded by Bhishma, Drona, Karna and others, terrible as death's own gaze. (3) Victory to the restorer of a lost kingdom, destroyer of worldly calamities and crusher of demons' pride; he stills crop-plagues, extreme fear, planets, ghosts, thieves, fire, illness, obstruction and dreadful pestilence. (4) Victory to the writer and commentator on Veda, Agama and grammar, ocean of ten million arts and wonders of poetry; singer of Sama, fulfiller of devotees' desires, Vamadeva, beloved loving friend of Shri Rama. (5) Victory to him who gave new wings, sight and a divine body to Sampati, scorched by the hot-rayed sun. To Tulsidas, bowed amid the torments of death, Kali and sin, you are forever father and mother. (6)
