With love, throughout your life, serve Kashi, the wish-fulfilling cow of the Kali age: she stills grief, burning anguish, sin and disease, and is a mass of every auspicious good. (1) Her boundary on all four sides is her excellent feet, served by heaven's inhabitants. All her holy places are fair limbs, and her innumerable, imperishable Shiva-lingas are the hairs upon them. (2) Antargriha, her inner precinct, is her fine udder; the four aims of life are her teats, and believers in the Veda her calves. Varuna shines like her dewlap, while the river Asi gleams as her tail. (3) Staff-bearing Bhairava is her horn, making wicked lovers of impurity afraid. Lolarka and Trilochana are her two eyes, and Karnaghanta is the bell at her ear. (4) Manikarnika is her moon-beautiful face; the joy of the celestial river is her lovely grace. Complete in worldly and highest good, the Panchakoshi circuit is her majesty. (5) Compassionate Vishvanatha is her keeper, and Girija fondles her every day. The Siddhis, Shachi and Sharada worship her, while Lakshmi stands watchfully disposed toward her. (6) The five-syllabled mantra is her life-breath; Madhava is her joy; fair Panchanada is her fivefold cow-gift. The paired letters of Rama's name, which unfold the universe, are like Brahman and the individual soul. (7) She grazes upon the grass of good and evil deeds belonging to beings who die there. They obtain the sacred milk of the supreme state, which those indifferent to the manifested world desire. (8) The Puranas say that Keshava fashioned her with the artistry of his own hands. Tulsidas, dwell in Hara's city and repeat Rama's name, if you wish to become truly happy. (9)
