जमुना ज्यों ज्यों लागी बाढ़न। त्यों त्यों सुकृत-सुभट कलि भूपहिं, निदरि लगे बहु काढ़न॥ १॥ ज्यों ज्यों जल मलीन त्यों त्यों जमगन मुख मलीन लहै आढ़ न। तुलसिदास जगदघ जवास ज्यों अनघमेघ लगे डाढ़न॥ २॥
As Yamuna began to swell, the valiant warriors of merit increasingly scorned King Kali and set about driving him far away. (1) As her water grew turbid, the faces of Yama's attendants grew dark, finding no shelter. Tulsidas says: like the weed javasa, the world's sin began to burn beneath the sinless cloud. (2)
