Victory, victory to Bhagiratha's daughter, moon to the chakor birds that are the host of sages; worshipped by humans, Nagas and gods, victory to Jahnu's daughter. Born from Vishnu's lotus feet, shining upon the Lord's head, you travel the three paths, a mass of merit that strips away sin. (1) You carry an immense abundance of stainless water, cool and removing the three afflictions, with noble whirlpools and a garland of sweeping waves. White as the moon, your current shines with the townspeople's offerings; you break the burden of becoming and are a protecting basin for the wish-fulfilling tree of devotion. (2) You protect equally the naked ascetics on your banks, creatures moving in water and on land, animals and insects, and ten million matted-haired practitioners. O Kalika who is death to the buffalo of delusion, give Tulsi the understanding to wander bank after bank remembering the hero of Raghu's line. (3)
