सदा— शंकरं, शंप्रदं, सज्जनानंददं, शैल-कन्या-वरं, परमरम्यं। काम-मद-मोचनं, तामरस-लोचनं, वामदेवं भजे भावगम्यं॥ १॥ कंबु-कुंदेंदु-कर्पूर-गौरं शिवं, सुंदरं, सच्चिदानंदकंदं। सिद्ध-सनकादि-योगींद्र-वृंदारका, विष्णु-विधि-वन्द्य चरणारविंदं॥ २॥ ब्रह्म-कुल-वल्लभं, सुलभ मति दुर्लभं, विकट-वेषं, विभुं, वेदपारं। नौमि करुणाकरं, गरल-गंगाधरं, निर्मलं, निर्गुणं, निर्विकारं॥ ३॥ लोकनाथं, शोक-शूल-निर्मूलनं, शूलिनं मोह-तम-भूरि-भानुं। कालकालं, कलातीतमजरं, हरं, कठिन-कलिकाल-कानन-कृशानुं॥ ४॥ तज्ञमज्ञान-पाथोधि-घटसंभवं, सर्वगं, सर्वसौभाग्यमूलं। प्रचुर-भव-भंजनं, प्रणत-जन-रंजनं, दास तुलसी शरण सानुकूलं॥ ५॥
I always worship Shankara, giver of welfare and joy to the good, bridegroom of the Mountain's daughter, supremely lovely; releaser from the pride of desire, lotus-eyed Vamadeva, reached through devotion. (1) Shiva is fair as conch, jasmine, moon and camphor, beautiful, the root of being-consciousness-bliss. Perfected beings, Sanaka and the foremost yogis, Vishnu and the Creator bow to his lotus feet. (2) Beloved of the brahmin lineage, easy to reach yet difficult for the mind, strange in dress, all-pervading and beyond the Vedas: I bow to the compassionate one who bears poison and Ganga, stainless, qualityless and changeless. (3) Lord of the world, uprooter of the thorn of grief, trident-bearer and mighty sun against the darkness of delusion; death of Time, beyond all phases and undecaying Hara, fire in the harsh forest of Kali's age. (4) Knower of reality, Agastya to the ocean of ignorance, all-pervading root of every good fortune; destroyer of abundant becoming and delighter of those who bow, be favorable to your servant Tulsidas who has sought refuge.
