दानी कहुँ संकर-सम नाहीं। दीन-दयालु दिबोई भावै, जाचक सदा सोहाहीं॥ १॥ मारिकै मार थप्यौ जगमें, जाको प्रथम रेख भट माहीं। ता ठाकुरकौ रीझि निवाजिबौ, कह्यौ क्यों परत मो पाहीं॥ २॥ जोग कोटि करि जो गति हरिसों, मुनि माँगत सकुचाहीं। बेद-बिदित तेहि पद पुरारि-पुर, कीट पतंग समाहीं॥ ३॥ ईस उदार उमापति परिहरि, अनत जे जाचन जाहीं। तुलसिदास ते मूढ़ मांगने, कबहुँ न पेट अघाहीं॥ ४॥

There is no donor anywhere like Shankara. Compassion for the poor alone pleases him; supplicants always look beautiful to him. (1) He slew Mara and then restored him in the world - Mara, foremost in the ranks of warriors. How could I ever describe that Lord's reward when he is pleased? (2) The state which sages hesitate to ask of Hari after practising ten million yogic disciplines is, as the Vedas proclaim, entered even by insects and moths in the city of the Foe of Tripura. (3) Those who leave the generous Lord, Uma's husband, and go elsewhere to beg are foolish beggars, says Tulsidas; their bellies are never filled. (4)
