बावरो रावरो नाह भवानी। दानि बड़ो दिन देत दये बिनु, बेद-बड़ाई भानी॥ १॥ निज घरकी बरबात बिलोकहु, हौ तुम परम सयानी। सिवकी दई संपदा देखत, श्री-सारदा सिहानी॥ २॥ जिनके भाल लिखी लिपि मेरी, सुखकी नहीं निसानी। तिन रंकनकौ नाक सँवारत, हौं आयो नकबानी॥ ३॥ दुख-दीनता दुखी इनके दुख, जाचकता अकुलानी। यह अधिकार सौंपिये औरहि, भीख भली मैं जानी॥ ४॥ प्रेम-प्रसंसा-बिनय-ब्यंगजुत, सुनि बिधिको बर बानी। तुलसी मुदित महेस मनहिं मन, जगत-मातु मुसुकानी॥ ५॥

Your lord is mad, O Bhavani. A mighty donor, he gives day after day without deliberation, taking delight in the Veda's praise of generosity. (1) Look at the depletion of your own house - you are supremely wise. Seeing the wealth Shiva has handed away, honored Sharada sighs. (2) On the foreheads of those paupers my writing left no sign of happiness; he restores their honor, while I am left to lose face. (3) Suffering and poverty are distressed by their distress, and beggary itself is agitated. Give this office to someone else; I have decided that begging is better.
