English Translation

You are my mother and father, my entire wealth and kin. You alone are the one who ensures my welfare, O God. You are my God, You are my life, You are my very devotion, O Panduranga. You are my conduct, You are my reflection, You carry my every burden. In every way, You are my sole authority. I swear by You that this is so. Says Tuka, I have sold You my life and jiva. Now do whatever You deem fit.

We ask forgiveness for any inaccuracies in rendering Tukaram ji’s original Marathi.

In Plain Words

You are my mother and father, all my wealth and kin. You alone are the one who works my good, O God. You alone are my God, You alone are my life, You alone are my devotion, O Panduranga. You are my conduct, You are my thought, You carry my every burden. In every way You are my one authority; this I swear by You. Tuka says: I have sold You my very life and self. Now do whatever You see fit.

What it means

Tukaram empties himself of every other support and names God as all of them at once: parent, wealth, kin, life, devotion, conduct, even his own thinking. There is nothing left that he claims as his own doing; God carries the whole burden and is his single authority. The closing line completes the surrender as an absolute sale: he has handed over his life and self entirely, and tells Panduranga to do with him whatever He judges best. The stakes are total dependence, a soul with no fallback outside of God.
