English Translation

Knowing the hidden feeling within, You have done what was needed, O Panduranga. The word You have spoken never falls to the ground. You are the mother of the helpless. Fulfill the hope of this beggar, O Dweller of Pandhari, Father and Mother. The fear within this jiva is destroyed; whatever remnant of doubt and duality remained has gone. Says Tuka, now I am unburdened. I shall sing Your boundless virtues.

We ask forgiveness for any inaccuracies in rendering Tukaram ji’s original Marathi.

In Plain Words

Knowing the hidden feeling in my heart, you have done exactly what was needed, Panduranga. The word you speak never falls to the ground. You are the mother of the helpless. Fulfill the hope of this beggar, Dweller in Pandhari, Mother and Father. The fear in my soul is destroyed; whatever was left of doubt and division is gone. Tuka says: now I am unburdened. I shall sing your boundless virtues.

What it means

Tukaram is giving thanks for a prayer already answered. He says Vitthal read the unspoken feeling in his heart and acted on it, and that God's given word never fails. The fruit is inward: the fear that gripped his soul is gone, and with it the last residue of doubt and the sense of separation between himself and God. Freed of that weight, he is light, nirbhara, with nothing left to carry. So the song that follows is not a request but the overflow of relief, praise that comes because there is nothing more to fear.
