Brahma looks upon the sorrowful Earth and asks her to hold courage within the heart. Fear has shown the calamity as complete, but the gathering is not abandoned within Ravana's power.

Remember the feet of Hari, he tells her. The first refuge is not a strategy devised by frightened gods, but return of the whole burden to the Lord whose feet support every world.

Hari knows the suffering of his devotees before their account is finished. Brahma promises that the terrible calamity will be destroyed. The cow's tears remain, but through them appears the first clear assurance of an answering grace.

Brahma places the trembling Earth beneath Hari's feet and asks her heart to become steady.

Read the passage from the Manas

धरनि धरहि मन धीर कह बिरंचि हरिपद सुमिरु। जानत जन की पीर प्रभु भंजिहि दारुन बिपति।।184।।

Brahma said to the Earth: "Hold courage in your heart and remember the feet of Hari. The Lord knows the suffering of His devotees. He will surely destroy this terrible calamity."
