Days pass like eyelid blinks for citizens immersed in love. Within the reunited household, Sita adorns herself according to each mother-in-law and serves every one with equal reverence.
Only Ram understands the mystery. Her many modes of service unfold within Sita's own divine power, allowing every mother to receive undivided attention, joy, counsel, and blessing.
Kaikeyi watches Sita and the two guileless brothers and is consumed by remorse. She asks earth to swallow her, but neither earth opens nor death comes. The assembly wonders whether fate will truly carry Ram away again. Love has made Chitrakoot feel whole, while the approaching decision places a shadow across every hour.
Sita becomes the exact tenderness each mother needs, while Kaikeyi watches grace answer her deed with service and cannot escape remorse.
Read the passage from the Manas
The people of the city, men and women alike, are steeped in such love that their days pass as swiftly as the blink of an eye. Sita adorns herself to match each mother-in-law and serves them all with equal reverence and devotion. No one but Rama understood this secret. All that Sita did was woven within her own divine maya. Through her loving service, Sita won the hearts of her mothers-in-law, and they blessed her with joy, counsel, and benedictions. Seeing Sita and the two guileless brothers, the scheming queen Kaikeyi was consumed with remorse. Kaikeyi begs the earth to swallow her whole, but the earth does not open, nor does the Creator grant her death. Poets declare what the world and the Vedas both affirm: those who turn away from Rama cannot find a place even in hell. This doubt lingered in every heart: will fate truly carry Rama away from Ayodhya, or will it not?
