The glory of Ram has moved through age after age, and Ayodhya's people delight to hear the gods themselves sing the greatness of his name. Within that praise Bharata asks Ram's friend gently about his welfare.
Guha sees Bharata's character and love and becomes almost unaware of his own body. Shyness, affection, and joy rise together. He stands gazing without a blink until courage returns, then bows again and joins his hands before the prince.
For Guha, all welfare has one root: sight of Ram's lotus feet. Because he has seen them, past, present, and future are blessed. Now Bharata's grace adds auspiciousness not only to Guha but to countless members of his lineage. Two devotees meet, and each beholds the other through the radiance of Ram.
Having seen Ram's feet and now Bharata's love, Guha gathers past, present, future, and all his kin into one blessing.
Read the passage from the Manas
It is no surprise; this truth has flowed through age after age. Who has Raghuvira not graced with His glory? The devas themselves sing the mahima of Rama's Name, and hearing it again and again, the people of Avadh are steeped in sukh. Meeting Rama's dear friend with tender affection, Bharat asked after his kusal, his auspicious well-being. Seeing Bharat's sheela and deep sneha, Nishadraj at that very moment became as one lost to the body, like Videha himself. Shyness, love, and delight swelled within his heart. He stood perfectly still, gazing at Bharat without blinking. Gathering his courage, he bowed at Bharat's feet once more, and with folded hands offered this loving vinaya: 'Having beheld those lotus feet which are the very root of all welfare, I count myself blessed across all three times, past, present, and future. Now, Prabhu, by your supreme anugraha, there is mangal for me together with tens of millions of my kinsmen.'
