बालक सीयके बिहरत मुदित-मन दोउ भाइ। नाम लव-कुस राम-सिय अनुहरति सुंदरताइ॥ १ ॥ देत मुनि मुनि-सिसु खेलौना, ते लै धरत दुराइ। खेल खेलत नृप-सिसुन्हके बालबृंद बोलाइ॥ २ ॥ भूप-भूषन-बसन-बाहन, राज-साज सजाइ। बरम-चरम, कृपान-सर, धनु-तून लेत बनाइ॥ ३ ॥ दुखी सिय पिय-बिरह तुलसी, सुखी सुत-सुख पाइ। आँच पय उफनात सींचत सलिल ज्यों सकुचाइ॥ ४ ॥
Sītā's two sons roam the forest playing with joyful hearts. Named Lava and Kuśa, their beauty resembles Rāma and Sītā. (1) When the sage gives them toys meant for sages' children, they take and hide them. Calling many boys together, they play the games of princes. (2) They fashion royal ornaments, garments, vehicles, and regalia, and make armor, shields, swords, arrows, bows, and quivers. (3) Tulsī says Sītā grieved in separation from her beloved yet rejoiced in the happiness of her sons, like milk that rises over flame but subsides when sprinkled with water. (4)
