From the time Jānakī came to dwell in the lovely hermitage, sky, water, and earth became pure and gave every blessing. (1) Even sapless trees flowered sweetly and bore abundant fruit, while many kinds of tubers, roots, and shoots put nectar to shame with their taste. (2) The Malaya breeze, swans, bees, peacocks, and cuckoos moved in companies; joyful deer and birds abandoned bitter enmity and roamed together. (3) The sun remained favorable by day and the moon lovely as a companion by night. Hearing this from her friends, Sītā graciously praised them and accepted their kindness. (4) The forest's delightful play stole the heart at a glance; yet how could Tulsī sing that the forest was pleasing to Sītā without Rāma? (5)
