Daughter, do not grieve. Hold within your heart that you have come to Janaka's own home. Auspicious lady, a festival of blessing and your welfare will come very soon. (1) Your father and father-in-law are royal sages, the Lord himself is your husband, and you are a mine of every blessing. If adversity appears even here, fate's nature must be exceedingly perverse. (2) Understanding the course of love, the sage called Sītā his daughter and instructed her: worship with devoted mind the divine river that grants blessed passage even to the indolent. (3) Bathe at dawn and worship the banyan that grants cherished desires. Goddess, you will gain sons, joy will increase day by day, and misfortune will be destroyed. (4) Tulsī says Vālmīki consoled her with delightful ancient tales that release sin and anguish, and her heavy despondency departed. (5)
