चरचा चरनिसों चरची जानमनि रघुराइ। दूत-मुख सुनि लोक-धुनि घर घरनि बूझी आइ॥ १ ॥ प्रिया निज अभिलाष रुचि कहि कहति सिय सकुचाइ। तीय-तनयसमेत तापस पूजिहौं बन जाइ॥ २ ॥ जानि करुनासिंधु भाबी-बिबस सकल सहाइ। धीर धरि रघुबीर भोरहि लिए लषन बोलाइ॥ ३ ॥ ‘तात तुरतहि साजि स्यंदन सीय लेहु चढ़ाइ। बालमीकि मुनीस आश्रम आइयहु पहुँचाइ’॥ ४ ॥ ‘भलेहि नाथ,’ सुहाथ माथे राखि राम-रजाइ। चले तुलसी पालि सेवक-धरम अवधि अघाइ॥ ५ ॥

Raghurāi, jewel among the wise, conferred secretly with his agents. Having heard public opinion from the messengers and learned what was said from house to house, he returned home. (1) “Beloved, tell me the desire dear to you.” Sītā answered shyly, “I wish to go to the forest and honor the ascetics together with their wives and children.” (2) The ocean of compassion saw every circumstance made ready under the power of what was to be. Holding firm, Raghubīra summoned Lakṣmaṇa at dawn. (3) “Dear brother, prepare the chariot at once, seat Sītā upon it, and convey her to the hermitage of the great sage Vālmīki.” (4) “Very well, Lord.” Lakṣmaṇa raised his good hands to his head in grief, accepted Rāma's command, and departed, fulfilling a servant's duty to its utmost limit.
