At the remembrance of Śrī Raghubīra's arms, the exceedingly impassable ocean of becoming grows easy: some cross it in a bound, while others sound its depth and pass over. (1) They seem like two streams of Yamunā plunging from the mountain of his lovely dark body, filled with immeasurable, stainless waters of strength and born from the sun of beauty. (2) Their arrows are currents, the bow their bank, ornaments the creatures of the water, and every graceful joint a whirlpool. Waves of victory's praises play between them, while the lotus hands shine in beauty. (3) They stand like two vast and lovely pillars at the gateway to the mansion of blessing for every world. The sages worshiped them at Viśvāmitra's sacrifice, and Janaka, Gaṇeśa, Śiva, and Girijā honored them. (4) They broke the bow of worldly existence and won Jānakī in marriage, leaving the kings overcome with shame; they transformed the axe-bearing Paraśurāma—who never once looked toward mercy—into a great sage. (5) When demon women, knowing Sītā bereft, tormented her with cruel words, those arms slew the enemies and made the wives of the gods' foes bare their heads and wail aloud. (6) Ten-headed Rāvaṇa had subdued the three worlds and distressed their guardians until they begged abjectly. Once he fell, gods, nāgas, and humans dwelt happily in their homes and sang the fame of those arms beside their fair-faced wives. (7) The Vedas and Purāṇas, Śeṣa, Śuka, and Śāradā praise those arms with love. They are the supreme wish-fulfilling vine beyond the wish-fulfilling vine, the wish-granting cow beyond the wish-granting cow. (8) Again and again they grant fearlessness to the afflicted and humble who take refuge, sustaining them to the very end. Tulsīdāsa says: those arms have cast their shade over their servants, do so now, and will always do so. (9)
