Friend, behold how Raghunātha's splendor appears today! His body is the color of a blue raincloud and the ornament of the worlds; he wears a yellow garment that steals the lightning's brilliance. (1) Having bathed in the Sarayū, he returns to the palace with holy people around him. His heart holds love for his people, compassion, and profound tenderness. Friend, the prince of Kosala advances like a lordly intoxicated elephant, yet his bearing and waist are a lion's. (2) Thick, glossy, curling, soft locks lie scattered over his face; the accomplished Lord arranges them with his hand, producing a delicious beauty. It is as though charming young serpents quarrel with the moon for nectar, while two great serpents restrain and reconcile them. (3) A tilaka shines on his brow; his eyes are lotuses, with lovely lashes and brows, and his handsome nose resembles a parrot's beak. His chin is beautiful, his lips red, his teeth radiant, his speech profound, and his gentle smile destroys worldly burning. (4) His earrings adorn his spotless cheeks, spreading an extraordinary, restless, lovely radiance. They are like twin golden makaras drinking the moon's sweet rays and, recognizing their kinship, proclaiming the ocean's glory. (5) A jeweled pendant shines on his chest with abundant light, encircled by a great necklace of elephant pearls. It is as though a curious host of stars has surrounded a ray of the sun after seeing it upon a fresh dark cloud. (6) Women standing upon their houses, filled with delight at the sight, shower abundant flowers and particles of saffron. Tulsī, the servant, says that supremely compassionate Rāma destroys the pride of billions of Love-gods with his beauty. (7)
