“You have understood nothing of my power. Crooked, insolent monkey, wretched beast—you have come to scold me as though I were your servant. (1) My brother Kumbhakarṇa destroys enemies, and my son brought even the lord of the gods here in chains. Why should I describe my incomparable strength of arm, which lifted Kailāsa like a ball? (2) Gods, humans, demons, serpents, birds, and kinnaras all act as I desire. Human flesh is delightful food to night-rangers, villain, and you recite that human’s glory to me! (3) What of it if, gathering monkeys for aid and devising a means, he has bridged the sea? Who has arisen in the three worlds capable of crossing the dreadful ocean of my twenty arms?” (4) Hearing the ten-headed king, the elephant among monkeys laughed and bowed to the Lord’s māyā. Tulsīdāsa says that because the lord of Laṅkā was subject to Time, he took no account of Aṅgada’s countless attempts to counsel him. (5)
