कहु, कबहुँ देखिहौं आली! आरज-सुवन। सानुज सुभग-तनु जबतें बिछुरे बन, तबतें दव-सी लगी तीनिहू भुवन॥ १ ॥ मूरति सूरति किये प्रगट प्रीतम हिये, मनके करन चाहें चरन छुवन। चित चढ़िगो बियोग-दसा न कहिबे जोग, पुलक गात, लागे लोचन चुवन॥ २ ॥ तुलसी त्रिजटा जानी, सिय अति अकुलानी मृदु बानी कह्यौ ऐहैं दवन-दुवन। तमीचर-तम-हारी सुरकंज-सुखकारी रबिकुल-रबि अब चाहत उवन॥ ३ ॥
“Tell me, friend, shall I ever behold the noble prince? Since that beautiful form and his younger brother were separated from me in the forest, all three worlds have seemed ablaze. (1) At the form’s remembrance my beloved appears within my heart, and with the hands of the mind I yearn to touch his feet. But when the state of separation mounts within my consciousness, it cannot be described: my body thrills and tears begin to stream. (2) Tulsī says Trijaṭā recognized Sītā’s intense anguish and gently told her, ‘The destroyer of enemies will come. The sun of Raghu’s line—destroyer of the night-rangers’ darkness and giver of joy to the gods’ lotus grove—is now about to rise.’ (3)
