Tell me, why would Vibhīṣaṇa’s affairs not prosper? Abandoning deceit, he sought refuge in Rāma, who produces the four fruits for all four kinds of devotees. (1) A bow to Rāma is the root of auspiciousness in the world and digs out misfortune by the root. Raghunātha placed his hand upon Vibhīṣaṇa’s head—who can describe his glory? (2) Through the power of his name the Lord purified even the fallen who never tired of committing sin and injustice. Some repeated it backward and some correctly; though crow-natured, they became royal swans. (3) Tulsī was once emaciated, hungry for coarse oilcake, coveting each morsel, and delighted by even a grain of millet. Now he has become a cātaka bird, petitioning Rāma, the beautiful dark raincloud. (4)
