आइ सचिव बिभीषनके कही। कृपासिंधु! दसकंधबंधु लघु चरन-सरन आयो सही॥ १ ॥ बिषम बिषाद-बारिनिधि बूड़त थाह कपीस-कथा लही। गये दुख-दोष देखि पदपंकज, अब न साध एकौ रही॥ २ ॥ सिथिल-सनेह सराहत नख-सिख नीक निकाई निरबही। तुलसी मुदित दूत भयो, मानहु अमिय-लाहु माँगत मही॥ ३ ॥

Vibhīṣaṇa’s minister came and said: “Ocean of Compassion, the ten-headed one’s younger brother has truly come for refuge at your feet. (1) He was drowning in the terrible ocean of grief when the story of the monkey king gave him firm ground. Beholding your lotus feet has removed every sorrow and fault, and now not a single desire remains. (2) Weakened by affection, he praises the flawless beauty flowing from nail to crown.” Tulsī says the messenger rejoiced as though, while asking for buttermilk, he had obtained nectar. (3)
