I shall go to the great king Rāma. Abandoning pleasure and self-interest, I shall do only what pleases my Master. (1) Hearing that one who seeks refuge has come, he will call me quickly, though I shall be utterly ashamed. Rāma, who honors the poor, will favor me, knowing I have neither master nor shelter. (2) The Lord will place his hand upon my head—what greater gain could ever satisfy me? Seeing that nothing in this dreamlike world is my own, I shall not be enticed by petty desires. (3) I shall say, “Lord, I offer myself; I will live upon your bread and sell myself to you without price.” Tulsī says: I shall wear the garments you have taken off and eat the remnants left from your meal.
