I shall go and behold the lotus feet of the Lord who honors the poor, gaining the fruit of my eyes—feet supremely beneficial to gods and communities of holy people. (1) He restores what has passed, protects to the end, and repairs what has gone awry. He delighted Śabarī, granted liberation to the vulture, and stilled the monkey king’s sorrow. (2) Like a crow from a ship, I have no other refuge anywhere. Wounded by the hawk that is Rāvaṇa, I have come for shelter at those joy-giving lotus feet. (3) He removes the afflicted one’s pain, gives refuge, and is always able to preserve his own servant’s honor. Tulsī says that at the cry “Protect me!” he guards even utterly worthless people like me who bow before him. (4)
