Crest-jewel of Raghu’s line, when I went and saw Jānakī in separation from you, she seemed the very embodiment of separation, stricken in spirit. (1) Her eyes were still as a picture, her hands and feet as if carved, her ears as if sealed, so that she did not hear when called. Her tongue repeats your name, her hand rests long upon her head, and she constantly gazes upon her own lotus feet. (2) Holding in her heart the longing and hope of seeing you, she has stationed meditation upon the Lord as guardian of her life. Tulsīdāsa says that Trijaṭā worships her well with flowers fashioned from the multitude of your virtues. (3)
